PLEA, PRAISE AND PROMISE

Psalm 67

THE PLEA vs 1-2

Our first relationship with God begins with our asking for His mercy towards us. We accept the fact that we have sinned and are under His coming judgement, hell for eternity. Its’ then we realize we have no other hope for forgiveness than Jesus Christ who paid our penalty for sin. We then ask God foe mercy, because we have nothing to offer for ourselves. Then rely on His promises that never fail. To know more about Him and His ways we must read/study the Bible ourselves time alone with the Bible and God.

THE PRAISE vs 3

Praise follow as knowledge of God and His ways increases.  He will judge all people with righteous judgement, His judgement will never be wrong . He knows the truth and all circumstances we face. He is in control of all that happen and also allows people to do wrong things. Remember the day is coming when all will give account for thing done whether good or bad. When we accept Christ as our and the only Saviour, our past sin is forgiven and He will remember them no more.  Now we our desire is to live in ways that will be pleasing to Him. Because of Christ paying the penalty for our sin we will praise and worship Him freely.

THE PROMISE vs 6

When we are in the right relationship with God that is nothing between us.  All sin unconfessed hinders that fellowship with Christ. The hymn writer Charles Tindley put it clearly in the hymn Nothing Between my soul and my Saviour.

  1. Nothing between my soul and my Savior,
    Naught of this world’s delusive dream;
    I have renounced all sinful pleasure;
    Jesus is mine, there’s nothing between.
  2. Nothing between, like worldly pleasure;
    Habits of life, though harmless they seem,
    Must not my heart from Him ever sever;
    He is my all, there’s nothing between.
  3. Nothing between, like pride or station;
    Self or friends shall not intervene;
    Though it may cost me much tribulation,
    I am resolved, there’s nothing between.
  4. Nothing between, e’en many hard trials,
    Though the whole world against me convene;
    Watching with prayer and much self-denial,
    I’ll triumph at last, there’s nothing between.

Refrain:
Nothing between my soul and my Savior,
So that His blessed face may be seen;
Nothing preventing the least of His favor;
Keep the way clear! Let nothing between

OUR PRAISE HIS PROMISES
The Psalmist (Psalm 34) tells us what our attitude and actions should be; to bless or declare the Lord, speak of Him, praise Him, Boast of him, magnify Him and exalt His name. For the Christian speaking of and sharing who He is and what He’s done for us should be part of our regular conversation. What’s more important to us than Christ, our lives reveal what’s important. How can one not speak of Christ who died for us to pay our sin debt and offer it as a free gift to us. Our salvation and forgiveness is by Christ’s death on the Cross of Calvary , nothing added no church or good works it’s Christ alone. How can we keep silent after what He’s done and does for us. Some may teach today that Christians live without any problems. But Christians/Believers will face problems, sorrow and hurts in this life. God promises to be with us and deliver us. The poor man cried verse 6, the righteous cry verse 7, many are the afflictions of the righteous verse 19. In all of these the Lord delivered them. Remember we all will go through hard times, sorrow and hurts but He has promised to be with us and see us through them, trust Him we are never alone. Jesus is coming soon as He promised be ready be sure. Psalm 34 I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. 2 My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. 3 O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together., 4 I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. 5 They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed. 6 This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. 7 The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. 8 O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. 9 O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him. 10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing. 11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD. 12 What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good? 13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile. 14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it. 15 The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry. 16 The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. 17 The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. 18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. 19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all. 20 He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken. 21 Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate. 22 The LORD redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate. “ As the hymn tells us in the hymn Where He Leads I’ll Follow
Sweet are the promises, kind is the word,
Dearer far than any message man ever heard;
Pure was the mind of Christ, sinless I see;
He the great example is, and pattern for me.
Sweet is the tender love Jesus hath shown,
Sweeter far than any love that mortals have known;
Kind to the erring one, faithful is He;
He the great example is, and pattern for me.
List to His loving words, “Come unto Me”;
Weary, heavy laden, there is sweet rest for thee;
Trust in His promises, faithful and sure;
Lean upon the Savior, and thy soul is secure.
Refrain
Where He leads I’ll follow,
Follow all the way.
Where He leads I’ll follow,
Follow Jesus ev’ry day.
