The Answer on Casey Anthony

The past weeks we have watched the trial of a mother charged with murdering her young child. Many have expressed outrage. How could a mother act the way she did. For thirty one days she hid the fact that her child was dead. How could anyone party the way she did and tell so many lies in an attempt to cover the death of her child? This is beyond the comprehension of many of us. (I know she was declared not guilty by a jury and the court so she is legally according to our law free of the guilt. But God knows the truth.)

On display for us, was her life at the end of a path she started down, many years before. A path that started with a little thing, a small lie to cover something she did not want to reveal, or to enhance her image to others. The beginning of the wrong path seems so inviting, offering comfort and pleasure. Proverbs chapter seven verses one to twenty-one is a good description of the path that leads to destruction. Its beginning seems so innocent but its end is destruction and even death.

The question being asked by many is, how can a mother do such a horrific deed?  We can find the answer in the book of Deuteronomy 28:45 “…because you did not obey the voice of the LORD your God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded you:”  verse 53 “And thou shalt eat the fruit of your own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters , which the LORD thy God hath given you,……”. This actually occurred in a siege of the city, the account given in 2nd Kings 6:28-29 “And the king said unto her, What is troubling you? This woman said unto me, Give your son, that we may eat him today, and we will eat my son tomorrow. So we boiled my son, and ate him…..”.

The Bible clearly teaches that sin in one’s life can lead us where we cannot even imagine and cause destruction we can’t comprehend. The only brakes that work on the path of sin, is the power of the blood of Jesus Christ which He shed on the cross at Calvary in payment for sin. Those brakes are offered to all. To the unbelievers “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16. To the believer: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1st John 1:9

Maybe now believers should pray for Casey Anthony’s salvation, does she deserve it, no. Did we deserve God’s offer of salvation, no.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” Rom 3:23

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Rom 6:23

“That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead; you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved” Rom 10:9, 10, 13.

“For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age.” Titus 2:11-12.

“The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”2nd Peter 3:9

Jesus is ready with open arms for all who will come to Him for Salvation. The Hymn writer said it well in the following hymn.

Room at the cross for You

The cross upon which Jesus died Is a shelter in which we can hide; And its grace so free is sufficient for me, And deep is its fountain as wide as the sea.

Tho millions have found Him a friend  And have turned from the sins they have sinned, The Savior still waits to open the gates And welcome a sinner before it’s too late.

The hand of my Savior is strong,  And the love of my Savior is long, Through sunshine or rain, through loss or in gain, The blood flows from Calvary to cleanse every stain.

There’s room at the cross for you, There’s room at the cross for you: Tho millions have come, There’s still room for one, Yes there’s room at the cross for you

                     JULY 4, 1776

This is the day Americans as a nation celebrates our freedom. As a nation we were freed from an oppressor. The oppressor could not control us anymore without our permission. We were free.

Sadly after 235 years as a free people, we are returning to an oppressor.  By giving up to the government our rights and freedoms, for “security”. Two hundred thirty five years ago Americans gave up the security of being under a protector (Britain) in exchange for freedom.  Americans have since  turned away from God and are  now turning toward an oppressor. By turning away from the sure word of the Bible we are allowing the oppressor to take control. As individuals turn away from God and His Word, our nation will turn away from God, because we are the nation.

A day of greater celebration and remembrance for some is the day they received the gift of salvation from God. We were set free from the penalty and power of sin. Our oppressor no longer has the freedom and power to rule over us. Our freedom cost us nothing, but it cost Christ the humility and death of crucifixion on the cross of Calvary, read Matthew 27 for remembrance.  In the beginning of our Nation men wrote the declaration of independence, declaring our freedom and then paid the price to gain it. It cost the signers of that document all they had.

God has written His declaration of independence for us from our oppressor Satan.  We are no longer have to be under the power and penalty of sin. We are offered the gift of salvation from God bought and paid for us by the death of Jesus Christ . “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” John 3:16

The men who signed the declaration of independence paid the price and left it as their gift to all Americans, to either accept or reject their gift of freedom.

God has offered His gift of freedom, it also must be received or rejected. I received His gift of salvation in March 1968. My hope and prayer is that you have or will also accept His gift today.

Romans10:9-13  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.  For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.  For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
