Strength and Courage

Be strong, rely on Christ. Be of good courage; trust in the promises of God’s Word. In Joshua 1:6 we have God’s encouragement to Joshua as he steps into the shoes of Moses. Be strong remembering the job is not to be done by your power but by my (God) power. Be strong and of good courage.  Trust me when you face the enemy and challenges to come.

You and I today can be strong as we live daily remembering that it’s not by our strength when facing the daily challenges but by the power of Christ Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things though Christ which strengtheneth me.”

Our courage is like those who bungee jump. They have the courage to jump. They have confidence in the cord that will prevent their death, keeping them safe and alive.

We can have courage to face the daily challenges and future eternity by trusting in Christ and the promises He has given us in His Word, the Bible.

The hymn:  Teach Me to Trust

Teach me to trust when there is cause to fear, when trials come and tempests sore appear: Help me to know that thou O God art near.

Teach me to trust when skies are shining bright, Or when I grope alone in sorrow’s night: thy love provides whatever’s best and right.

Teach me to trust mid all life’s tangled ways, In all its disappointments and delays; Give me a song a sacrifice of praise!

Teach me to trust when weary, worn and frail, When sickness, pain and other ills assail: thy grace sustains, Thy promise will not fail.

Teach me to trust, teach me to trust.

Our salvation, the forgiveness of sin, is ours when we repent and trust in Christ’s substitutionary death in my place Acts 20:21

John 3:16 ” For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”  The simple Gospel, Jesus paid my debt for sin and offers the gift of salvation to all.  I never plan to bungee jump, I will never have the confidence to trust that cord. But in the spring of 1968 I did totally trust Christ for my salvation freeing me from the condemnation, power and penalty of sin. That’s a cord we can have total confidence in, guaranteed.

John 5:24 “Verily, verily I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation ; but is passed from death unto life.”  II Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away: behold, all things are become new.”

Are you a friend of Christ?

What a friend we have in Jesus,

All our sins and griefs to bear!

What a privilege to carry

Everything to God in prayer!

Oh, what peace we often forfeit,

Oh, what needless pain we bear,

All because we do not carry

Everything to God in prayer!

2 Have we trials and temptations?

Is there trouble anywhere?

We should never be discouraged,

Take it to the Lord in prayer:

Can we find a friend so faithful

Who will all our sorrows share?

Jesus knows our every weakness,

Take it to the Lord in prayer.

3 Are we weak and heavy laden,

Cumbered with a load of care?

Precious Savior, still our refuge;

Take it to the Lord in prayer:

Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?

Take it to the Lord in prayer;

In His arms He’ll take and shield thee;

Thou wilt find a solace there.

This is one of the great old hymns that have brought much encouragement and comfort to many over the years.

It should also bring to mind the question.

Am I His friend?

“Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.” John15:14

In this chapter John 15, Jesus has said;

1. He will purge us so that we can be

more fruitful.

2. We are made clean through the Words

He has spoken.

3. Unless we abide in Him will not be

fruitful in our walk.

4. If we abide in Him our request will be

5. If we obey His word we will abide in

His love.

He commands us to love one another.

“And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God , and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.” James 2:23

Does Jesus call you His friend?

Jesus is coming to earth again, What if it were today?

Coming in power and love to reign.  What if it were today?

Coming to claim His chosen Bride, All the redeemed and purified,

Over this whole earth scattered wide, What if it were today?

Faithful and true would He find us here, If He should come today?

Watching in gladness and not in fear, If He should come today?

Signs of His coming multiply, Morning light breaks in eastern sky,

Watch, for the time is drawing nigh, What if it were today?

Mk 13:35 Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight or at the cockcrowing or in the morning. Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.

When we see what’s going on in the world today, the mid-east unrest, uprisings. Muslims may well soon be coming to power in many nations with Islamic rule.

America is in trouble financially and morally. This government turning away from our past support of Israel. God has promised to bless those who bless Israel, our nation has always blessed Israel and we as a nation have been greatly blessed. With a possible financial crises looming for America and worldwide, then all governments getting together to avoid a complete melt down. As the crisis looms  there is the opportunity to unite many countries trying to avoid a financial collapse. Drawing the world closer to the one world government of the tribulation period.

Sadly many have followed the latest false teacher, Harold Camping with his setting of the dates. He has been wrong in the past and will continue to be wrong in the future. Once again the importance of knowing what the Bible actually teaches. “But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no not the angels of heaven but my Father only.” Mt 24:36.

No one knows the day or the hour of His coming, to take Christisns out of the world before the time of Tribulation is unleashed on this earth

Mt 24:44 Therefore be ye also ready for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

Will you be ready? Do you have a personal relationship and fellowship with Jesus Christ.

“As it is written, There is none righteous no not one “Rom 3:10

“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God”. Rom 3:23

“For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life.” Rom 6:23

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth, the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God

hath raised him from the dead thou shalt be saved.” Rom 10:9

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved”. Rom 10:13

 Nothing Between

Nothing between my soul and the savior, Naught of this world’s delusive dream: I have renounced all sinful pleasure Jesus is mine! There’s nothing between.

Nothing between like worldly pleasure: Habits of life, tho harmless they seem, Must not my heart from Him ever sever He is my all! There’s nothing between.

Nothing between, like pride or station: Self or friends shall not intervene: Tho it may cost me much tribulation, I am resolved! There nothing between.

Nothing between, even many hard trials, Tho the whole world against me convene; Watching with prayer and much self denial triumph at last, with nothing between!

After we are saved, our fellowship with Christ will stay sweet when we keep the lines of communication open by daily confession of known sins.

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9
