God’s Billboard
The heavens declare the glory of God. One of the privileges of living in the country away from some of the city lights is to look up at night and see the stars, planets and the milky-way. It shows lights uncountable by man and the glory of God who knows them all by name (Isaiah 40:26, Psalm 147:4. God uses nature to reveal Himself to every person on earth, in every society people worship a god of some kind. But the true God has revealed himself to all through nature itself. We are fortunate, blessed to also have in our hands the written Word of God that reveals Him to us also. The question for each is are we using it to learn more about Him. Nature can reveal that there is a God to men, the Words tells who He is and about Him and His love for us. The rear of the Lord, that is a reverential trust in God along with hatred of evil. Sadly many today profess a love for God but in practice lean toward evil, especially in their entertainment with TV and movies etc. The judgments of God, His Word is to be desired and then He promises great rewards. The Psalmist closes with the request as we also should. God keep me from presumptions sins and let my thoughts and words be acceptable in your sight. The question on what is right and wrong is not what we think but what does God think of our thoughts, words and actions. Our desire and prayer should be that God is pleased with all our thoughts, words and actions. Remember sin starts within the heart, thoughts. Psalm 19 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. 2 Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. 3 There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. 4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun, 5 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race. 6 His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof. 7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. 8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. 9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. 10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. 11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward. 12 Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults. 13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression. 14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

Our security
The psalmist speaks of his commitment to love God. Today the word love is used freely and loosely relating to current feelings toward another, but true love is a commitment to another that last. Our love for God is in response to His love shown to us beginning with our salvation. He is our rock, the secure foundation on which we build our lives daily. Our fortress our place of protection and security. Our deliver He rescued us from the penalty of sin and now will deliver us from the power of sin as we stay close to Him in our walk. My God the one we worship and give our allegiance to. He is our strength for living the life pleasing to Him we can’t do it on our own strength. He is our buckler shield to protect us from the things thrown at us as we live daily the temptations, troubles and sorrows. The horn of my salvation the horn on animals is used for their defense it’s their power He is our defense our salvation is secure with Him. Our high tower that is our place of safety, our trust for eternity and daily living is placed in Him alone what He has promised He will do. Psalm 18: 1-6 I will love thee, O LORD, my strength.2 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. 3 I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies. 4 The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid. 5 The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me. 6 In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.

Let’s Be Genuine
The psalmist declares that his cause is right, he pleas to God to hear his request. He is confident of his relationship and fellowship with God. His words are genuine not false, his heart is right with God. He can state that there is nothing between him and God to be a hindrance to his prayers. Ps 66:18 “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:. He keeps the words of God , they keep him walking and acting right , and his trust is in God to keep him from slipping into sin. His desire is for God to keep him close, under His wings. To prevent him from the evil influences around. He realizes that Satan and his workers will try to get him to fail. He realizes that his part is to stay in close fellowship with God. That comes with time spent reading and studying the Word of God with the commitment to obey what it says. Be very careful with the little things, the questionable, the things that can lead down a road to disaster, loss of testimony. We never can be sure how far our liberties will take us down a wrong road. It may start with TV, the internet what we watch would we if Jesus was sitting beside us physically. The first social drink may lead to trouble with alcohol for ourselves or our children and those we may influence. Familiarity with the opposite sex could lead to a failed marriage be very careful, as one man of God said never alone other than with your wife. Remember we each could go down the same road other have taken, there is no guarantee when one takes the first step. Let’s be committed to walk close with God each day moment by moment. Psalm 17: Hear the right, O LORD, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips.2 Let my sentence come forth from thy presence; let thine eyes behold the things that are equal. 3 Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress. 4 Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer. 5 Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.6 I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God: incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech. 7 Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them. 8 Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings, 9 From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about. 10 They are inclosed in their own fat: with their mouth they speak proudly. 11 They have now compassed us in our steps: they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth; 12 Like as a lion that is greedy of his prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places. 13 Arise, O LORD, disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, which is thy sword: 14 From men which are thy hand, O LORD, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes. 15 As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.

Keep Me
The psalmist prayer is for God to keep him safe, secure and from spoilage. Because I put my trust in you he like us knows we would fail if we were kept in the relationship by our own power. I Peter 1:5 tells us we are kept not by our own efforts but by the awesome power of God. I picture a strong arm reaching down and grabbing hold of me, nothing is powerful enough to cause Him to release His grip I am held fast, by His power and love not my efforts. ”I Peter 1:5 Who are kept by the power of God, through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.” Psalm 16:8 I have set the LORD always before me; because he is at my right hand I shall not be moved.”Our commitment keep our eyes on the Lord in our daily walk, we must spend time alone with our savior through His Word, reading, study and prayer. He gives counsel and instruction we have joy and rest because of His promises. Psalm 16 Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust. 2 O my soul, thou hast said unto the LORD, Thou art my Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee; 3 But to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight. 4 Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: their drink fferings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips. 5 The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot. 6 The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage. 7 I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons. 8 I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. 9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope. 10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. 11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

THE FOOL
God calls a man a fool when he says there is no God, he may be one with much education and degrees. He tries to make his case against the existence of God and to some it may sound good. But God says that one is a fool. In Romans 1:19-20 God challenges one to just look at the available actual evidence not theories, and anyone can clearly see that there is a God. People make a choice to reject God so they have no higher one to answer too. God says they are corrupt and revolting. When people reject God either by denying His existence or rejecting His teachings. The final end is the same an eternity in Hell. There are two paths to hell; one is the open rejection of God and an ungodly lifestyle. This is being made plain in our society today, pornography, child abuse, homosexual life styles, rapes, murders and rebellion. The other is the path of self-righteousness, either through false religions or just thinking I’m good enough as I am, helping my neighbor and others so I’m ok. A false religion is simply identified as anything other than salvation by faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ, God the Son on the cross of Calvary and is open to all, nothing added to it. The grace of God that bringeth salvation has appeared to all and all are without excuse. Remember God loved the ungodly, sinners and his enemies( which we all were) enough to die in our place so we could have available the forgiveness of sin. Psalm 14: 1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. 2 The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. 3 They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one. 4 Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the LORD. 5 There were they in great fear: for God is in the generation of the righteous. 6 Ye have shamed the counsel of the poor, because the LORD is his refuge. 7 Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! when the LORD bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.

FORGOTTEN
Ever felt forgotten by God, the times when problems, events rose up in your life. You prayed and it seemed that God did not hear or just refused to listen and answer many have been in that place at times. The Bible tells of a man that for 38 yrs had an infirmity in John 5, a woman for 18 yrs doctors could not help in Luke 13, a man born blind in John 9, Mary and Martha close friends of Jesus and their brother died in John11. Do we dare think that thy never questioned God, when He would not hear or help. The Psalmist looked within his own heart to find wrongs he had done. What have I done wrong and why won’t God help me? We must look within for sin but then confess it and accept God’s forgiveness, don’t just continue to dwell on past sins that God has promised to forgive and also forget. And don’t go their again to repeat the same sin and if you do repent , confess and accept God’s forgiveness. The Psalmist speaks of his enemies, we may not think we have personal enemies. But we as Believers the greatest enemy of all Satan, whose goal it is to destroy our testimony and or our usefulness in our service to God. Sometimes just through discouragement. Then the Psalmist as we should remembered who God is, His character, His love and our relationship with Him. Then he declares his trust in God and rejoices over his salvation. Even in times of heartache and trouble we can still sing unto the Lord because of His mercy, love and forgiveness toward us, The blood that Jesus shed on the cross of Calvary makes it all possible if we accept Him gift offered to all. Psalm 13” 1 How long wilt thou forget me, O Lord? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me? 2 How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me? 3 Consider and hear me, O Lord my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death; 4 Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved. 5 But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation. 6 I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.”

CRY FOR HELP
Help Lord, is the only prayer and hope we have in many times in our lives personally and for our country. In our country those who stand on godly principles and those who live for God are vanishing, the godly ceaseth and the faithful fail. The ungodly oppress the poor and take advantage of those in need. The truth is set aside today in many churches just preach what makes the people feel good, an example is Joel Olsteen. The vile men are exalted today, character is ignored it doesn’t seem to count in our society, where in general winning and gain in material goods is all that matters. We see this in sports, politics and businesses. But sadly judgment is coming, our nation has ignored and or rejected God. Many think America is above what other countries are experiencing because of the claim of a Christian nation all is now changing. The Word of God is pure, God has promised to preserve His Word from the very beginning, the account of creation in Genesis to the final Word of the Book of Revelation in our Bible. We can trust it for the way of salvation (forgiveness) for doctrine and guidance in daily living. This is the time when Christians need maybe more than ever to read and study their Bibles so they will know the truth. Satan is hard at work to have the Word of God misused which is being done by many today with the false religions and the health and wealth groups. We just need to know what the Bible itself says clearly and plainly Jesus is God in the flesh, He died as payment for our sins, He rose bodily from the grave and is now in heaven soon to return, the gift of salvation is available to all whosoever will call on Him.
Psalm 12 1 Help, LORD; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men. 2 They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak. 3 The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things: 4 Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us? 5 For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the LORD; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him. 6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. 7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. 8 The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.
