A SOBERING THOUGHT

A SOBERING THOUGHT

Amazing Grace vs 4 — for the Believer

When we’ve been there ten thousand years

Bright shinning as the sun

We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise

Than when we first began.

Rejected Grace — for the unsaved.

When we been there ten thousand years

In the darkness nights of hell

We’ve no less days to endure the torments

Than when we first began

The hymn Amazing Grace is so precious a message to the Believer. It speaks of the hope, the assurance of the gift we have been offered and accepted.  The joy of heart rises up in each as we sing this great old hymn. Gut as we sit and relish in the wonders in our future, our hearts go out to God in thanksgiving for His wonderful, unspeakable gift he purchased for you and me  and makes available freely to all.

Let us never forget those who for reasons we can’t understand have failed to respond but have rejected the most wonderful gift of all eternity. As we sing of the ten thousand years of joyful bliss as just the beginning of eternity.

There will be many who will repeat others words of sorrow , anguish, hopelessness that is an eternity of no hope, no reprieve of the fire, the darkness, the torments and the remembrance of lost opportunities.

All those in Hell have one thing in common. In this group there will be murders, thieves, drunkards, drug abusers, wife abusers, child abusers, homosexuals, lesbians, harlots, whores and the men who use them, adulterers, fornicators (sex outside of marriage) . Think of the worst repulsive people you can imagine they will all be there. Also in this group there will be people who cared for other people, charity workers and givers to charity, those who have in many ways helped their fellowmen who dedicated their whole lives in helping others. Hero’s as we would see them today. People faithful to their place of worship teachers, ministers, priest all really good and caring people you can imagine.

They all will have the one thing in common, that is they neglected or rejected the salvation offered by Jesus. The free gift purchased by His blood shed on the cross of Calvary.  They missed the simple gospel, God’s only plan of salvation.

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”. Romans 3:23

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”       Romans 6:23

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:28

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God; not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13

It’s  not our goodness that gets us to heaven nor our sin that keeps out of heaven and sends us to hell, it’s one’s neglect or rejection of the gift Jesus has made available to us. The gift of forgiveness.

Hymn: Amazing Grace

1)Amazing grace  how sweet the sound  That saved a wretch like me.

I once was lost but now am found, Was blind but now I see.

2)Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, And grace my fears relieved:

How precious did that grace appear  The hour I first believed!

3)Thru many dangers toils and snares I have already come:

Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far, And grace will lead me home.

Always be ready and willing to share the amazing gift that Jesus in love has given to us and for us to share with others. In the end what else will matter?

These thoughts came after listening to Dr. Wilmington last Sunday night he mention that as we’ve been in heaven ten thousand years singing the praises to God, there will be many in hell for ten thousand years without hope.  Ten thousand years is just the beginning of eternity.
