The psalmist comes to God knowing the Holiness and Justice of God, knowing his own sin and its’ seriousness before God. He does not make excuses other than his own weakness as a man with s sin nature. Today in society and sadly in the in the church also sin is excused and given other names to make it sound better homosexuals are now gays, sex outside of marriage is not fornication and adultery but sleeping together. The absolute holiness and justice of God is downplayed. The psalmist as we should come to God admitting his sin knowing that according to Gods’ rules he only deserves punishment. But then he pleas only for mercy to the Holy, Just and Loving God. Sin has taken its’ toll mentally and physically he is weakened as the results. He ask as we do when in need Lord how long before help comes. Grave yards are silent the dead don’t speak praises and give glory to God opportunities are loss. From the despair he is experiencing because of sin to the hope and triumph of knowing God has heard his prayer and will deliver hip showing mercy. As Believers we need to keep in focus in our daily walk the holiness and justice of God His view and response to sin as He defines it according to His Word, the Bible. The question of sin is not what or how we define it but what and how God defines it. And then come before Him when we sin, looking only for mercy.
Psalm 6 6 O LORD, rebuke me not in thine anger, neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.2 Have mercy upon me, O LORD; for I am weak: O LORD, heal me; for my bones are vexed. 3 My soul is also sore vexed: but thou, O LORD, how long? 4 Return, O LORD, deliver my soul: oh save me for thy mercies’ sake. 5 For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks? 6 I am weary with my groaning; all the night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears. 7 Mine eye is consumed because of grief; it waxeth old because of all mine enemies. 8 Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity; for the LORD hath heard the voice of my weeping. 9 The LORD hath heard my supplication; the LORD will receive my prayer. 10 Let all mine enemies be ashamed and sore vexed: let them return and be ashamed suddenly.

VICTORY
The Christian life can be compared to the winning team of a football game. Many mistakes, many failures and some successes, it’s a constant battle with the opposition. But when the time runs out they are finally victorious over the opposition. In life there are only two sides(teams) God’s and Satan’s. You and I are on one of them, no one can be neutral .Luke 11:23 “He that is not with me is against me;…”. The cost paid so we could be on the winning side was tremendous, the suffering and death of God’s Son Jesus Christ at Calvary. He paid the price for us with no possible refund, but then gives us the choice to accept or reject His offer of forgiveness and to be a part of His family. At salvation we receive the Holy Spirit to live within us. His nature within us has the power to win the daily battles and temptations that Satan will place in our path. By faith we rely on Him to give us the victory over temptation, we can’t do it ourselves. It’s the grace of God that teaches us to turn from the Worlds’ view and practices and live our lives to please God. A true Christian may fail and backslide for a time, remember Peter’s denial of Christ. But he soon repented and was restored and used, the evidence is not just what we say but what we do, the normal pattern of living. Does one desire, strive to follow God’s directions to be a faithful follower. What is the difference from the average moral unsaved person? Does Christ in us show to others by our attitudes and actions. The quest for our daily lives is not am I satisfied with what I believe and live, but is God satisfied? “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world; and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? 1st John 5:4-5 The hymn writer put truths on victory in the hymn ;
Encamped along the hills of light,
Ye Christian soldiers, rise.
And press the battle ere the night
Shall veil the glowing skies.
Against the foe in vales below
Let all our strength be hurled.
Faith is the victory, we know,
That overcomes the world..

His banner over us is love,
Our sword the Word of God.
We tread the road the saints above
With shouts of triumph trod.
By faith, they like a whirlwind’s breath,
Swept on o’er every field.
The faith by which they conquered death
Is still our shining shield.

On every hand the foe we find
Drawn up in dread array.
Let tents of ease be left behind,
And onward to the fray.
Salvation’s helmet on each head,
With truth all girt about,
The earth shall tremble ’neath our tread,
And echo with our shout.

To him that overcomes the foe,
White raiment shall be giv’n.
Before the angels he shall know
His name confessed in Heav’n.
Then onward from the hill of light,
Our hearts with love aflame,
We’ll vanquish all the hosts of night,
In Jesus’ conqu’ring Name.
Refrain

Faith is the victory! Faith is the victory!
O glorious victory, that overcomes the world
