CHRIST ALONE
Waiting on God to fulfill His promises. He has promised us a way of salvation, the forgiveness of our sin, our sin nature with which we were all born and our sins committed. He only is our foundation and salvation , its Christ alone! Nothing added not church membership, not church or religious rituals, not personal works or practices. Apart from the shed blood and death of Christ on the cross of Calvary we have no hope, but only an eternity of torment in Hell for our sin. He has given us a promise and will complete that promise. He also is our defense against the attacks of satan both direct and indirect, through our own minds and thoughts to destroy our testimony. God has given us directions for daily living as our defense. He is our refuge vs 7 our place to go in times of trouble and danger. Trust in Him, tell Him all our problems, our doubts and our feelings. As the old preacher C.H. Spurgeon said “God graciously rewards the poor, imperfect works of His people we see in it a clear display of mercy” . Our efforts to avoid things which can lead to our spiritual etc hurt, our efforts to study to know His will and learn more about Him, our efforts to reach out to others in love with His message. He in mercy rewards our less than perfect efforts. Let’s keep Him in our focus daily, hourly, moment by moment. Psalm 62;1 Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation. 2 He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved. 3 How long will ye imagine mischief against a man? ye shall be slain all of you: as a bowing wall shall ye be, and as a tottering fence. 4 They only consult to cast him down from his excellency: they delight in lies: they bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah. 5 My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him. 6 He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved. 7 In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. 8 Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah. 9 Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: to be laid in the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity. 10 Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them. 11 God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God. 12 Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his work.

Dealing with your Enemy
I have an enemy in my life some may have more . I can narrow mine down to one real enemy. One who I realize I will never win over, he has determined to be my enemy for life, yes its Satan, the Devil he uses many others to attack me, my nature, my own mine and even other people. He waits patiently for an opportunity, just a small opening. Something maybe seen in movies, TV etc or read just a little something to give him an opening, just a small one. The Psalmist realized his weakness before the enemy and prays to God to deliver me, defend me and save me. The psalmist prayer concerning the wicked (Psalm 59:5) he prays for judgment from God who is Just in all His dealings, he does not at this time pray for mercy on the wicked. Maybe Christians today have become too easy on sin and the enemies of God, those who reject Christ. The old preacher C.H. Spurgeon states “ How wrong is that state of mind which hates to hear of the punishment of the wicked”. We call sin by many nice sounding names, living together, sleeping together instead of fornicating. Gay instead of homosexual reprobates (Romans 1:27-) Yes Gods’ desire is and ours should be for their repentance and coming to Christ for salvation. With many in churches today nothing is called sin just a different way, let’s get back to calling sin what it is horrible in the face of our Holy and loving God. Then as the Psalmist (vs 16 Psalm 59) we can sing of His power, His mercy and our deliverance from the power of sin. Remember little leaks can sink large boats if not fixed. Let’s stop the leaks, spread the Gospel and give praise to our Lord and Saviour. Psalm 59:1 Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God: defend me from them that rise up against me. 2 Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, and save me from bloody men. 3 For, lo, they lie in wait for my soul: the mighty are gathered against me; not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O LORD. 4 They run and prepare themselves without my fault: awake to help me, and behold. 5 Thou therefore, O LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel, awake to visit all the heathen: be not merciful to any wicked transgressors. Selah. 6 They return at evening: they make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city. 7 Behold, they belch out with their mouth: swords are in their lips: for who, say they, doth hear? 8 But thou, O LORD, shalt laugh at them; thou shalt have all the heathen in derision. 9 Because of his strength will I wait upon thee: for God is my defence. 10 The God of my mercy shall prevent me: God shall let me see my desire upon mine enemies. 11 Slay them not, lest my people forget: scatter them by thy power; and bring them down, O Lord our shield. 12 For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and for cursing and lying which they speak. 13 Consume them in wrath, consume them, that they may not be: and let them know that God ruleth in Jacob unto the ends of the earth. Selah. 14 And at evening let them return; and let them make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city. 15 Let them wander up and down for meat, and grudge if they be not satisfied. 16 But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble. 17 Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing: for God is my defence, and the God of my mercy.

TRUST AND MERCY
The psalmist pleads for mercy from the merciful God, he ask twice because the need is urgent. His/our trust in God, is like a little baby chick snuggles up close under the wings of the mother hen, there finds warmth, peace and security. As we stay close to our God and Saviour through reading His Word we find warmth, peace and security . Let nothing come between you and our Saviour Jesus Christ. In that secure relationship the psalmist still cries out with confidence to the almighty God who does all things for him and us. If there is no way on earth to meet the need then He will send the help from heaven. We pray for mercy He sends both mercy and truth, more than we ask. The psalmist and we live in danger daily some dangers are different, he list lions, fire, spears, arrows, sharp swords and the tongues of men. Satan uses some people and many things and ways to set the nets for us Gods’ children. As the psalmist says his heart is fixed he is committed to trust in our great God. Sing, give praise and glory to Him the glorious God. He will tell and sing of Gods mercy and greatness to all those around him, giving glory to God and our Saviour Jesus Christ. Its sad when a Christian is silent about his love for his Saviour. Christ hung on the Cross in public for us, can’t we give Him praise and glory to others. We see today our nation is turning its’ back on God openly with the new acceptance of homosexual marriage now legal, the content in movies and things that were condemned a few years ago by Christians are now accepted as being ok, but still condemned by God and His Word. It has been said truthfully, evil increase when Christians are silent. The question for each of us before God is what will you do. Psalm 57:1 Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast. 2 I will cry unto God most high; unto God that performeth all things for me. 3 He shall send from heaven, and save me from the reproach of him that would swallow me up. Selah. God shall send forth his mercy and his truth. 4 My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword. 5 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; let thy glory be above all the earth. 6 They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down: they have digged a pit before me, into the midst whereof they are fallen themselves. Selah. 7 My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise. 8 Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early. 9 I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations. 10 For thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds. 11 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: let thy glory be above all the earth.
As the hymn writer put it in the hymn Nothing Between
Nothing between my soul and the Savior , Naught of this world’s delusive dream; I have renounced all sinful pleasure, Jesus is mine! There’s nothing between. Nothing between my soul and the Savior , So that His blessed face may be seen; Nothing preventing the least of His favor; Keep the way clear! Let nothing between.

THE FOOL AND THE FOOLISH
The fool says there is no God, that there’s no one to answer too. I alone determine what is right or wrong. Many would never say there is no God but live daily saying no to God, no to His commands, no to His teachings and no to His instructions, warnings and guidance in life. It’s not that one would say there is no God or live as if there is no God. The question is do we really believe that there is an almighty, Holy and just God, real belief is shown by our actions. As God views mankind He sees none that doeth good, none that understand, none that seek God, they are filthy not a one that is acceptable in His view. Some rely on doing the best they can, some believe that their sin/wrong will be overlooked by God because of their circumstances neither is acceptable to God. God is love but He is also just, all sin must be dealt with. Jesus paid the price with His suffering and death on the Cross of Calvary. Our part is to confess our sin to Him, repent and forsake it. Gods invitation to come for Salvation of and from sin is open to all. Titus 2:10-15” 10 Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things. 11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; 13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. 15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.”
Psalm 53: The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good. 2 God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God. 3 Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.4 Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread: they have not called upon God. 5 There were they in great fear, where no fear was: for God hath scattered the bones of him that encampeth against thee: thou hast put them to shame, because God hath despised them. 6 Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When God bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.

MISCHIEF & MERCY
When we think of mischief we think of something annoying not really bad. But mischief is also wrong doing causing loss, pain and harm. All thoughts, words and actions come out of the heart of people. What is in our heart man times comes out in words, attitudes and actions. Our nation, its people are moving constantly toward a love for evil. Evidenced by TV programs etc. promoting sex without marriage, polygamy, homosexuality, profanity and social drinking as a normal good lifestyle. In Psalm 52 verse 2 speaks of the tongue working deceitfully, that is saying evil is good and good is wrong. Many today even professing Christians are turning against what God says is wrong to accepting sin as just different life styles and beliefs. Wrong is first tolerated, then accepted and finally embraced leading to the downfall of many and eventually our nation. We need to get back to calling what God says is wrong sin. Gods’ judgment is coming one day we will see Gods’ longsuffering come to an end. I believe God is sending a warning even through secular TV etc as many are talking about a coming disaster, financially, food shortages and even the need to prepare to defend and protect yourself. The Bible tells us to be ready time is short death is sure. The Christians will be taken out of this world before the coming Tribulation shown in the book of Revelation in the bible. But we don’t know how bad things will get before that time, just look at other countries it can happen here. Gods’message is simple be ready time is short death is sure. He is not willing that any should perish but He leaves that decision up to each individual. 1 Timothy 2:4-5 Who will have all men to be saved and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and men the man Christ Jesus. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. The Gospel is simple we are all sinners and need forgiveness that can come only through Christ alone, no church, religion or anything we can do. Jesus paid our price for sin on the cross of Calvary. The invitation is open will you accept his gift. Psalm 52 Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God endureth continually. 2 The tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully. 3 Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah. 4 Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue. 5 God shall likewise destroy thee for ever, he shall take thee away, and pluck thee out of thy dwelling place, and root thee out of the land of the living. Selah. 6 The righteous also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him: 7 Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness. 8 But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever. 9 I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name; for it is good before

Christian, you and I still sin! Maybe not as the Psalmist David did but in different ways before a holy God. What do you do now? In Psalm 51 David goes directly to the only one that can help that is God Himself. “For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” 1 Timothy 2:15. He relied on the character of God, His mercy and his lovingkindness. He looks to God alone to blot out his sins, to make him clean again. He is repentant he turns away from his sin confesses that he did wrong, offers no excuses. He was troubled by his sin , he had no peace. As with the psalmist a Christians’ sin always troubles him. The psalmists’ plea blot out my transgressions, wash me from my iniquity, cleanse me from my sin, purge me. Hide thy face from my sin. He wanted to be restored to that pure, clean close fellowship he had with God is the past. As Christians we have the invitation from God to confess and repent of our sin He promises to forgive them and also to forget them . The Psalmist wanted the joy of his fellowship with God restored when Christians sin in any way we lose the joy we have of God in our daily life. With the Psalmist there was confession without excuse, forgiveness by God. His joy in God, His Word and life was restored. We have the opportunity to follow the same path confession, repentance and restoration to intimate fellowship with God. Because of the price Jesus paid on the Cross of Calvary. But always remember God will forgive and restore our relation with Him. But the consequences of our sins don’t vanish, the fruit produced by sin may well come to its’ full hurt. We never know where the first step toward sin will lead a look a action or a word will end. When David was restored He committed to teach, tell others of the ways of God so others could be restored. Christians tell others of your salvation and the love of God. In our daily walk lets follow the hymn writers words “let between my soul and my savior”.
Nothing between my soul and my Savior, Naught of this world’s delusive dream; I have renounced all sinful pleasure; Jesus is mine, there’s nothing between. Nothing between, like worldly pleasure; Habits of life, though harmless they seem, Must not my heart from Him ever sever; He is my all, there’s nothing between. Nothing between, like pride or station; Self or friends shall not intervene; Though it may cost me much tribulation, I am resolved, there’s nothing between. Nothing between, e’en many hard trials, Though the whole world against me convene; Watching with prayer and much self-denial, I’ll triumph at last, there’s nothing between. . Refrain: Nothing between my soul and my Savior, So that His blessed face may be seen; Nothing preventing the least of His favor; Keep the way clear! Let nothing between.
Psalm 51 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. 2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. 3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. 4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest. 5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. 6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom. 7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. 8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice. 9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. 11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. 12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. 13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee. 14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness. 15 O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise. 16 For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering. 17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. 18 Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem. 19 Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.

GOD IS GREAT
He is great and we are to praise Him, He is a refuge, loving kindness, tell the next generation. He is great in knowledge, He knows all there is to know nothing is hidden there are no secrets, all that people do or think He knows all about. Great in power He is all powerful He can calm the oceans and wind nothing is too hard for Him. Great in love, so great is His love that He was willing to become a man to pay our penalty for sin and suffer and die on the cross of Calvary. He desires all people to be saved “..not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. “” 2nd Peter 3:9.But each must make the decision to accept Him or reject Him as the only way of salvation. He is also a just God and the penalty for sin must be paid so He paid it and offers it to all men to take the gift. We in our minds may find it hard to comprehend God but we can look around and know that He exist, read His word and know He loves us and wants to forgive and cleanse us from sin. Its our choice. Psalm 48 Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised, In the city of our God, His holy mountain. 2 Beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth, Is Mount Zion in the far north, The city of the great King. 3 God, in her palaces,
Has made Himself known as a stronghold. 4 For, lo, the kings assembled themselves,
They passed by together.5 They saw it, then they were amazed; They were terrified, they [a]fled in alarm. 6 [b]Panic seized them there, Anguish, as of a woman in childbirth. 7 With the east wind
You break the ships of Tarshish.In the city of the LORD of hosts, in the city of our God;
God will establish her forever. [c]Selah. 9 We have thought on Your lovingkindness, O God,
In the midst of Your temple. 10 As is Your name, O God, So is Your praise to the ends of the earth; Your right hand is full of righteousness. 11 Let Mount Zion be glad, Let the daughters of Judah rejoice Because of Your judgments. 12 Walk about Zion and go around her; Count her towers; 13 Consider her ramparts; Go through her palaces, That you may tell it to the next generation. 14 For [d]such is God, Our God forever and ever; He will guide us [e]until death.
