The psalmist (Ps 31) is committed to trust in the Lord. Trust can be good or bad it depends on what or who we trust. We daily put our trust in things we can’t see elevator cables, brakes on cars, planes most of the time it works well. Occasionally they fail injuries and death follow. We put trust in people and at times they fail our trust and hurts and disappointments follow. Many today are trusting in their faith, good lives, works and religion for salvation, forgiveness and a future place in heaven. But sadly when one trust in the wrong things they fail to achieve the desired results. When we really put our trust in God we are secure no matter what happens. He is our rock, foundation and fortress. When troubles come as the psalmist in verse 9 cries to God for mercy. The hard thing to face at times is that even as Christians troubles, heartache, hurts and sorrow will come our way. The bad things that come our way may not be because of what we are doing or have done or have not done. It may be the results of the actions of others. God is in control nothings happens with out Him allowing it, but that does not mean it’s His will. He wants all saved and living according to His Word but that doesn’t because man has freedom of choice and those choices often cause hurt and sorrow to the innocent. But we put our trust in God even when we don’t understand or see the end. Romans 8:28”And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Trust, we are preserved and rewarded Ps 31:23, Be of good courage and He shall strengthen your heart all ye that hope in the Lord. Be sure of your relationship with Christ and be ready to meet Him. Keep looking up. Psalm 31 In You, O LORD, I put my trust; Let me never be ashamed; Deliver me in Your righteousness. 2 Bow down Your ear to me,
Deliver me speedily; Be my rock of refuge, A fortress of defense to save me.
3 For You are my rock and my fortress; Therefore, for Your name’s sake,
Lead me and guide me. 4 Pull me out of the net which they have secretly laid for me, For You are my strength. 5 Into Your hand I commit my spirit;
You have redeemed me, O LORD God of truth. 6 I have hated those who regard useless idols; But I trust in the LORD. 7 I will be glad and rejoice in Your mercy, For You have considered my trouble; You have known my soul in adversities, And have not shut me up into the hand of the enemy;
You have set my feet in a wide place. 9 Have mercy on me, O LORD, for I am in trouble; My eye wastes away with grief, 10 For my life is spent with grief,
And my years with sighing; My strength fails because of my iniquity,
And my bones waste away. 11 I am a reproach among all my enemies,
But especially among my neighbors, And am repulsive to my acquaintances;
Those who see me outside flee from me. 12 I am forgotten like a dead man, out of mind; I am like a broken vessel. 13 For I hear the slander of many;
Fear is on every side; While they take counsel together against me,
They scheme to take away my life. 14 But as for me, I trust in You, O LORD;
I say, “You are my God.” 15 My times are in Your hand; Deliver me from the hand of my enemies, And from those who persecute me. 16 Make Your face shine upon Your servant; Save me for Your mercies’ sake. 17 Do not let me be ashamed, O LORD, for I have called upon You; Let the wicked be ashamed;
Let them be silent in the grave. 18 Let the lying lips be put to silence, Which speak insolent things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.
19 Oh, how great is Your goodness, Which You have laid up for those who fear You, Which You have prepared for those who trust in You In the presence of the sons of men! 20 You shall hide them in the secret place of Your presence
From the plots of man; You shall keep them secretly in a pavilion From the strife of tongues. 21 Blessed be the LORD For He has shown me His marvelous kindness in a strong city! 22 For I said in my haste, “I am cut off from before Your eyes”; Nevertheless You heard the voice of my supplications When I cried out to You. 23 Oh, love the LORD, all you His saints! For the LORD preserves the faithful, And fully repays the proud person.
24 Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart, All you who hope in the LORD.

An eye witness gives added assurance of the truth. The apostle testifies that he himself and the other disciples and many others were eye witnesses to the truths concerning Christ. They had seen Jesus as He ministered on the earth, then were witnesses to His death, burial, resurrection and finally his ascension in the heavens. They testified that Jesus had been sent by God the father into the world to provide salvation for all. He is the Saviour of the world, for all who will believe on Him. He is not a savior, one of many ways but the only way of forgiveness of sin and renewal of our relationship with God the Father. The opportunity is available to everyone. “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men” Titus 2:11. It’s God’s desire for all people to be saved. “Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.: 1st Timothy 2:4 “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” 2nd Peter 3:9. The purpose of Jesus coming into the world was to save sinners. “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.” 1st Timothy 1:15. Salvation for all is God’s desire, He made the only way of forgiveness that all need, then because love is a choice He gave man the choice to believe Him, to receive or reject His gift. Then in our thankfulness we have the opportunity to show our love to Him and serve Him. When anyone believes, puts their trust in Jesus for forgiveness and confesses that Jesus is the Son of God then God dwells in Him. 1st John 4:14-15 “And we have seen and do testify that the Gather sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.” The hymn writer reminds of both His first coming and also His next soon coming for Believers , One Day. Are you ready?
1. One day when Heaven was filled with His praises,
One day when sin was as black as could be,
Jesus came forth to be born of a virgin,
Dwelt among men, my example is He!
2. One day they led Him up Calvary’s mountain,
One day they nailed Him to die on the tree;
Suffering anguish, despised and rejected:
Bearing our sins, my Redeemer is He!
3. One day they left Him alone in the garden,
One day He rested, from suffering free;
Angels came down o’er His tomb to keep vigil;
Hope of the hopeless, my Savior is He!
4. One day the grave could conceal Him no longer,
One day the stone rolled away from the door;
Then He arose, over death He had conquered;
Now is ascended, my Lord evermore!
5. One day the trumpet will sound for His coming,
One day the skies with His glories will shine;
Wonderful day, my beloved ones bringing;
Glorious Savior, this Jesus is mine!
o Refrain:
Living, He loved me; dying, He saved me;
Buried, He carried my sins far away;
Rising, He justified freely forever;
One day He’s coming—oh, glorious day!
