We look today and see what’s going on in our country and world and see the truths of this psalm. When men have rejected and have no fear of God. We see in Psalm 36:3 where it leads. But we Christians need to take note of verse 4, they do not hate evil. Today even within churches professing Christians are soft on sin. It’s tolerated as we have seen in the past sin tolerated, then is accepted and finally embraced we see that happing today in many areas. Then comes judgement. Evil can easily be defined as that which is contrary to the will of God. Remember sin begins in the heart, the thoughts before it manifest itself in actions.. Adultery, pornography and drunkenness all started with in the thoughts/ heart, it’s ok this time, I deserve it because.. I myself won’t go that far I will control it. A deceptive lie of Satan himself to catch his prey. Then the Psalmist talks of the mercy of God His faithfulness, His righteousness and judgements and that He preservest man. Then because of His loving kindness some people put their trust in Him. He has made the only way of forgiveness of our sin through the blood of Jesus Christ on the Cross of Calvary. In that alone we trust for our salvation and He promises to forgive , cleanse and make us His own children . We move from the enemy into the loving family of God. We are loved forever. Psalm 36 The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes. 2 For he flattereth himself in his own eyes, until his iniquity be found to be hateful. 3 The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: he hath left off to be wise, and to do good. 4 He deviseth mischief upon his bed; he setteth himself in a way that is not good; he abhorreth not evil. 5 Thy mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds. 6 Thy righteousness is like the great mountains; thy judgments are a great deep: O LORD, thou preservest man and beast. 7 How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings. 8 They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures. 9 For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light. 10 O continue thy lovingkindness unto them that know thee; and thy righteousness to the upright in heart. 11 Let not the foot of pride come against me, and let not the hand of the wicked remove me. 12 There are the workers of iniquity fallen: they are cast down, and shall not be able to rise. As the hymn writer put it in . And Can It Be That I Should Gain?
1 And can it be that I should gain An int’rest in the Savior’s blood?
Died He for me, who caused His pain? For me, who Him to death pursued?
2 He left His Father’s throne above, So free, so infinite His grace;
Emptied Himself of all but love, And bled for Adam’s helpless race;
3 No condemnation now I dread; Jesus, and all in Him is mine!
Alive in Him, my living Head, And clothed in righteousness divine,
Refrain;
Amazing love! how can it be That Thou, my God, should die for me?
Amazing love! how can it be That Thou, my God, should die for me!

Why be surprised at what we see going on around us, with the thoughts, words and actions of people. The life styles that are being lived and promoted. Homosexuality and men and women living together before marriage and drinking are presented as just normal. This is easily understood when we realize as the apostle says here there are two groups of people on earth. Those that are saved and those that are unsaved, of the World or of God. Some preachers are readily accepted in the World because of what they preach and don’t preach, it makes the feel good. They like many people never draw a line between the start of right and wrong. Examples, living together before marriage if you say you are planning to be married, drinking is ok if you don’t get totally drunk just drink to just before the point of drunkenness and stop. Just live a good life and do good for others and you will be ok. The one thing they ignore or reject is the question What think you of Jesus Christ. Some will spend eternity in Hell as murderers, drunkards, adulterers, cheats and liars etc some as “good” people having done much good while alive but just ignored Jesus Christ as the only way of Salvation. The other group are those who have seen their need of a Saviour and put their trust in Christ as their only hope, not proud but thankful to God for their new relationship with Christ. We have the Holy Spirit living within and when we hear a preacher, preach wrong things the Spirit within tells something is wrong, examine it further. To hear the Spirit within it’s important to keep nothing between ourselves and our Saviour, no little sin unconfessed. We each must answer the question which group are you? 1 John 4:5-6 5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. 6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.” The Hymn Nothing Between

1. Nothing between my soul and my Savior, Naught of this world’s delusive dream;
I have renounced all sinful pleasure; Jesus is mine, there’s nothing between.
2. Nothing between, like worldly pleasure; Habits of life, though harmless they seem,
Must not my heart from Him ever sever; He is my all, there’s nothing between.
3. Nothing between, like pride or station; Self or friends shall not intervene;
Though it may cost me much tribulation, I am resolved, there’s nothing between.
4. Nothing between, e’en many hard trials, Though the whole world against me convene;
Watching with prayer and much self-denial, I’ll triumph at last, there’s nothing between.
o Refrain:
Nothing between my soul and my Savior, So that His blessed face may be seen;
Nothing preventing the least of His favor; Keep the way clear! Let nothing between.
