MISCHIEF & MERCY
When we think of mischief we think of something annoying not really bad. But mischief is also wrong doing causing loss, pain and harm. All thoughts, words and actions come out of the heart of people. What is in our heart man times comes out in words, attitudes and actions. Our nation, its people are moving constantly toward a love for evil. Evidenced by TV programs etc. promoting sex without marriage, polygamy, homosexuality, profanity and social drinking as a normal good lifestyle. In Psalm 52 verse 2 speaks of the tongue working deceitfully, that is saying evil is good and good is wrong. Many today even professing Christians are turning against what God says is wrong to accepting sin as just different life styles and beliefs. Wrong is first tolerated, then accepted and finally embraced leading to the downfall of many and eventually our nation. We need to get back to calling what God says is wrong sin. Gods’ judgment is coming one day we will see Gods’ longsuffering come to an end. I believe God is sending a warning even through secular TV etc as many are talking about a coming disaster, financially, food shortages and even the need to prepare to defend and protect yourself. The Bible tells us to be ready time is short death is sure. The Christians will be taken out of this world before the coming Tribulation shown in the book of Revelation in the bible. But we don’t know how bad things will get before that time, just look at other countries it can happen here. Gods’message is simple be ready time is short death is sure. He is not willing that any should perish but He leaves that decision up to each individual. 1 Timothy 2:4-5 Who will have all men to be saved and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and men the man Christ Jesus. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. The Gospel is simple we are all sinners and need forgiveness that can come only through Christ alone, no church, religion or anything we can do. Jesus paid our price for sin on the cross of Calvary. The invitation is open will you accept his gift. Psalm 52 Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God endureth continually. 2 The tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully. 3 Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah. 4 Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue. 5 God shall likewise destroy thee for ever, he shall take thee away, and pluck thee out of thy dwelling place, and root thee out of the land of the living. Selah. 6 The righteous also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him: 7 Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness. 8 But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever. 9 I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name; for it is good before

GOD HAS SPOKEN
Psalm 50. When God speaks that’s the end of the discussion and debate. The truth has been revealed there is no other argument to be made on the subject. Today God has given us His Word in writing so there is no question on what He has said on a subject. Read all He says on a subject not just one verse by itself, but compared to others on the same subject. He speaks of calling His people into account and judgement. As Christians we will never be judged for our sin, that was done at the crucifixion of Christ on the cross. But let us remember we will at the judgement seat of Christ give account of how we lived our lives after we were saved. Some will receive rewards and many will be ashamed as we stand before the one who gave His all to pay our price for sin. Let us set our goal to live for him to please Him every day of our lives. He also gives us a great promise of comfort, call upon me in the day of trouble and I will deliver thee, and you shall glorify me. We must take a stand against sin, judgement is coming, time is short. Christ is the only way of salvation the only hope, let’s tell it to all. Romans 3:23 “ For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 10:9 & 13 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead thou shalt be saved. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Psalm 50:1 The Mighty One, God, the LORD, has spoken, And summoned the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting. 2 Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God has shone forth. 3 May our God come and not keep silence;
Fire devours before Him, And it is very tempestuous around Him.
4 He summons the heavens above, And the earth, to judge His people:
5 “Gather My godly ones to Me, Those who have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice.” 6 And the heavens declare His righteousness, For God Himself is judge. [b]Selah. 7 “Hear, O My people, and I will speak; O Israel, I will testify [c]against you; I am God, your God. 8 “I do not reprove you for your sacrifices, And your burnt offerings are continually before Me. 9 “I shall take no young bull out of your house Nor male goats out of your folds. 10 “For every beast of the forest is Mine, The cattle on a thousand hills.
11 “I know every bird of the mountains, And everything that moves in the field is [d]Mine. 12 “If I were hungry I would not tell you, For the world is Mine, and [e]all it contains. 13 “Shall I eat the flesh of [f]bulls Or drink the blood of male goats? 14 “Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving And pay your vows to the Most High; 15 Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I shall rescue you, and you will honor Me.” 16 But to the wicked God says, “What right have you to tell of My statutes And to take My covenant in your mouth? 17 “For you hate discipline, And you cast My words behind you. 18 “When you see a thief, you [g]are pleased with him, And [h]you associate with adulterers. 19 “You [i]let your mouth loose in evil And your tongue frames deceit. 20 “You sit and speak against your brother; You slander your own mother’s son. 21 “These things you have done and I kept silence; You thought that I was just like you;
I will reprove you and state the case in order before your eyes.
22 “Now consider this, you who forget God, Or I will tear you in pieces, and there will be none to deliver. 23 “He who offers a sacrifice of thanksgiving honors Me; And to him who [j]orders his way aright
I shall show the salvation of God.”

HEAR
The psalmist starts Psalm 49 with the call to all people to hear, listen and pay close attention. What is going to be told is most important. Whether you are living in luxury, or just the average or even in extreme poverty there is a message you need to hear. Many today are focused on getting more money to live better but let the spiritual part of their life take a lesser priority. I see many professing Christians who talk and tell about many things in their lives but rarely if ever mention their relationship to Christ. All that we have will one day belong to others or will be burned in fire.
Three things we should take to heart in this life: 1. Death is sure we know not when. 2. Eternity is for sure lasting forever with two places to spend it Heaven in joy or Hell in torment. 3. All need to be saved, forgiven and cleansed of sin. The message is simple romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 10:9, 13 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead thou shalt be saved. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. The final choice to accept or reject His love is yours.
Our priorities will be shown in our daily living with work, Church, the Bible and God, prayer and family. Each must ask where are my priorities and where should they be in view of eternity.
Psalm 49:1 Hear this, all ye people; give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world: 2 Both low and high, rich and poor, together. 3 My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding. 4 I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my dark saying upon the harp. 5 Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity of my heels shall compass me about? 6 They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches; 7 None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him: 8 (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:) 9 That he should still live for ever, and not see corruption. 10 For he seeth that wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others. 11 Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names. 12 Nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish. 13 This their way is their folly: yet their posterity approve their sayings. Selah. 14 Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling. 15 But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah. 16 Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased; 17 For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him. 18 Though while he lived he blessed his soul: and men will praise thee, when thou doest well to thyself. 19 He shall go to the generation of his fathers; they shall never see light. 20 Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish.

The Heart
Out of the heart comes our thoughts, speech and actions. For a pure life keep the heart clean. What’s put in through the eyes, ears in to the mind will come out. What’s in the heart, mind will come out in life eventually. Dwelling in the heart on the inner beauty of Christ, His might, glory, majesty and character will come our in our daily life in our thoughts, speech and actions. One day all the wrongs we see will be made right when Christ returns to reign on earth. Christ loves righteousness and hates wickedness, sin. As Christians we need to never tolerate, compromise on the sins, wrong and wickedness we see today even the “little sins”. But as we remember Christ’ love for us with out us deserving it, we should show that love to others. Love the person but hate the sin. Never let our hate for sin be directed to hate for the person. Just remember, pray for their need of salvation or restoration to fellowship with Christ. Always remember what Jesus did for you so we could be forgiven and have fellowship with Him. He paid our price of redemption as He suffered and died on the cross of Calvary all because of His love for us, all sinners. Read Matthew chapter 27 often as a reminder of what price He paid so we/ you and I could be forgiven. Psalm 45 My heart is inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.2 Thou art fairer than the children of men: grace is poured into thy lips: therefore God hath blessed thee for ever. 3 Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, O most mighty, with thy glory and thy majesty. 4 And in thy majesty ride prosperously because of truth and meekness and righteousness; and thy right hand shall teach thee terrible things. 5 Thine arrows are sharp in the heart of the king’s enemies; whereby the people fall under thee. 6 Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre. 7 Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. 8 All thy garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia, out of the ivory palaces, whereby they have made thee glad. 9 Kings’ daughters were among thy honourable women: upon thy right hand did stand the queen in gold of Ophir. 10 Hearken, O daughter, and consider, and incline thine ear; forget also thine own people, and thy father’s house; 11 So shall the king greatly desire thy beauty: for he is thy Lord; and worship thou him. 12 And the daughter of Tyre shall be there with a gift; even the rich among the people shall intreat thy favour. 13 The king’s daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold. 14 She shall be brought unto the king in raiment of needlework: the virgins her companions that follow her shall be brought unto thee. 15 With gladness and rejoicing shall they be brought: they shall enter into the king’s palace. 16 Instead of thy fathers shall be thy children, whom thou mayest make princes in all the earth. 17 I will make thy name to be remembered in all generations: therefore shall the people praise thee for ever and ever.

Four words in life
Desire, tears, why and hope are four words that are part our lives that we all experience at times. DESIRE, what is your main desire in life, remember time and actions reveal the truth so lets be honest with ourselves. Many people profess Christianity but do you have a desire, or as the psalmist says a thirst for God (Psalm 42). Two questions; do you have a desire to spent time with the Bible reading and praying personally? What priority is attendance in Church to hear the Bible taught and preached , and singing praised to God? TEARS, we all experience heartaches, disappointments, sorrow and just some hard times in this life. Some falsely teach that as Christians we will not have those times but hard times come to all one way or another, just read the examples in the Bible of men who were dedicated to God. That leads to the third word WHY the psalmist ask of himself why am I cast down set aside, without any present hope for the future. Why am I disquieted no rest for the mind, spirit ,emotions, no peace of heart just troubled in life. In all the psalmist troubles he begins to think that God has forgotten him and he is all alone. In the depths of his troubles he reminds himself as we also should to look to God. HOPE in God. As we read Gods’ Word the Bible and many times the testimonies and experiences of others our hope is renewed our spirit is lifted. The Word of God as we read it think on it and remember Gods love and care for us and His promised faithfulness our hope is restored, it may take time. But we must wait patiently on God to provide the hope encouragement and the relief it will come. Whatever the day brings remember the psalmists’ admonition hope in God. Psalm 42 As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. 2 My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God? 3 My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God? 4 When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday. 5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance. 6 O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar. 7 Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me. 8 Yet the LORD will command his lovingkindness in the day time, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life. 9 I will say unto God my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy? 10 As with a sword in my bones, mine enemies reproach me; while they say daily unto me, Where is thy God? 11 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

CONSIDER
“Blessed is he that considereth the poor” Psalm 41. Our first thought is to give money, but that’s not what it says. We are to consider, take note of , study their case and cause, what will help them in the future. Their immediate need may well be financial, the necessities. But then we consider how we can help them for their future. Are they in need because of their immoral life styles, lack of education the basics, lack of working job skills or just laziness. True inability to work at some type of job is really a rarity. The goal would be to help them to not need help. The Bible gives the guideline for helping in 2nd Thessalonians 3:10 “For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.” That would motivate some today to find work. A willingness to make a change in their life style immoral to moral, get needed job skills and or education to be more able to provide for their needs. Consider the poor is not just giving money but also getting to the foot of the problem with those wanting and willing to change. And letting those who won’t suffer. And yes we should and must help those willing and trying . As we follow God’s Word He has promised us untold blessings, but let also remember it may not be financial wealth as some falsely teach. True riches and wealth last for eternity. Psalm 41 Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. 2 The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies. 3 The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness. 4 I said, LORD, be merciful unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee. 5 Mine enemies speak evil of me, When shall he die, and his name perish? 6 And if he come to see me, he speaketh vanity: his heart gathereth iniquity to itself; when he goeth abroad, he telleth it. 7 All that hate me whisper together against me: against me do they devise my hurt. 8 An evil disease, say they, cleaveth fast unto him: and now that he lieth he shall rise up no more. 9 Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me. 10 But thou, O LORD, be merciful unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them. 11 By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me. 12 And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, and settest me before thy face for ever. 13 Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting, and to everlasting. Amen, and Amen.

Take Heed
Take heed consider your ways, the psalmist here is speaking of being careful of what you say , think before you speak. What effect could your words have for the future for yourself and others. We also need to take heed to what we need to do to grow spiritually and walk close to our Lord daily. Time reading and studying His Word the Bible and praying. Consider what part really the Bible has in your daily life, are you spending time reading what Jesus wrote to you in His word. Some rarely read the letter from the one they claim to love. As a professing Christian, I almost never read the Bible, went to church because it was what Christians do, but had many excuses for missing. Then in March 1968 I was led to take a good look at myself and realized I was not a Christian, then I got saved and all that changed. I believe many professing Christians are like I was little if any evidence of a changed life and living to please the one who died in their place so we could be forgiven. As the psalmist says in Psalm 39:5 time is short be sure be ready. One day I believe soon, Christians will be taken out of this world, caught up in the Rapture to be with Jesus. Then God will release the most horrific judgements upon the earth and those left behind. Take close heed, be honest with yourself as you examine yourself to see if you are really a Christian. Faith in Him alone brings salvation to those who will confess their need. The life you live shows the evidence of your true beliefs. Psalm 39 I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me. 2 I was dumb with silence, I held my peace, even from good; and my sorrow was stirred. 3 My heart was hot within me, while I was musing the fire burned: then spake I with my tongue, 4 LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is: that I may know how frail I am. 5 Behold, thou hast made my days as an handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing before thee: verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity. Selah. 6 Surely every man walketh in a vain shew: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them. 7 And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee. 8 Deliver me from all my transgressions: make me not the reproach of the foolish. 9 I was dumb, I opened not my mouth; because thou didst it. 10 Remove thy stroke away from me: I am consumed by the blow of thine hand. 11 When thou with rebukes dost correct man for iniquity, thou makest his beauty to consume away like a moth: surely every man is vanity. Selah. 12 Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear unto my cry; hold not thy peace at my tears: for I am a stranger with thee, and a sojourner, as all my fathers were. 13 O spare me, that I may recover strength, before I go hence, and be no more.
