PERFECT LOVE
The love mentioned here is the love that has grown to perfect love, that is love that has matured in commitment, security and confidence. Love that starts between the young in love used to be called puppy love that was an immature love. That at time could grow into a mature love that would last a lifetime. As believers we start with an immature love, but as we learn more about Christ that love becomes a mature/perfect love. The love of God that gives us security and confidence when we will face the judgment seat of Christ Romans 14:10 “But why dost thou judge thy brother: or why dost thou set at nought thy brother: for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.” 1st Corinthians 3:13 “Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.” Our lives will be reviewed for the way we have lived since becoming Christians. We will either receive rewards for the things done or lose rewards for what we could have done but didn’t do. One’s goal should be to live with the attitude an actions daily as Jesus would in our situation. But we will have confidence in Him as we stand before Him knowing that our future is secure. Knowing that all my sins are under the blood of Jesus, their price has been paid for at Calvary. There is no fear in perfect/mature love we have confidence in His love for us and His character to stand for what He has promised. Our love for him is because of the love He has shown for us. We are humbled that the Holy, all knowing God could love us enough to suffer and die in our place at Calvary. Our lives now should be lived so as to show our love and thankfulness to Him. 1st John 4:17-19 “Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world, There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth our fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. We love him, because he first loved us.” The hymn writer gave a goal in More Like the Master, will this be your prayer and goal daily?
1. More like the Master I would ever be,
More of His meekness, more humility;
More zeal to labor, more courage to be true,
More consecration for work He bids me do.
2. More like the Master is my daily prayer;
More strength to carry crosses I must bear;
More earnest effort to bring His kingdom in;
More of His Spirit, the wanderer to win.
3. More like the Master I would live and grow;
More of His love to others I would show;
More self-denial, like His in Galilee,
More like the Master I long to ever be.
Refrain:
Take Thou my heart, I would be Thine alone;
Take Thou my heart, and make it all Thine own.
Purge me from sin, O Lord, I now implore,
Wash me and keep me Thine forevermore

God loves me! The apostle keeps repeating this truth. One that we know is true but is difficult no impossible to comprehend. How and why could the Almighty, pure Holy, Righteous and Just God love me/us. His holiness was seen in Exodus 19 when He desended upon the Mount Sini, anyone or animal except Moses who even touched the base of the mount was to die. Again in 2nd Samuel 6 when one with good intentions touched the Ark of God he died, both events reveal the absolute holiness of God. Yet because of His love He would make a way through the sacrifice at Calvary of His Son Jesus so He could come and actually live within me. Many things in life we may not understand, such as nuclear reactions. But we rely on the power produced when we turn on the lights. Much is being said on TV news about religions and how both Islam and Christianity are both good religions of peace. They are totally confused since Islam’s goal for others to convert to Islam or be killed. This is stated many times in the Koran. Many others teach be good and do good to earn favor with God. The difference between true Christianity and all other religions even some claiming to be Christian, is true Christianity rely on only what Christ did to provide us forgiveness of s\in and nothing else added, nothing we can do. It’s faith, trust in the shed blood of Jesus our only hope for salvation alone. When we accept Him we are changed 2sn Corinthians 5:17. We will have a love for God, His Word and others as evidence of our new life in Christ. “And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.” 1st John 4:16. The hymn writer put in this way in, When Love Shines In.
1 Jesus comes with pow’r to gladden, When love shines in,
Every life that woe can sadden, When love shines in.
Love will teach us how to pray, Love will drive the gloom away,
Turn our darkness into day, When love shines in.
2 How the world will grow with beauty, When love shines in,
And the heart rejoice in duty, When love shines in.
Trials may be sanctified, And the soul in peace abide,
Life will all be glorified, When love shines in.
3 Darkest sorrow will grow brighter, When love shines in,
And the heaviest burden lighter, When love shines in.
’Tis the glory that will throw Light to show us where to go;
Oh, the heart shall blessing know, When love shines in.
4 We may have unfading splendor, When love shines in,
And a friendship true and tender, When love shines in.
When earth’s vict’ries shall be won, And our life in Heav’n begun,
There will be no need of sun, When love shines in.
Refrain:
When love shines in, When love shines in,
How the heart is tuned to singing, When love shines in;
When love shines in, When love shines in,
Joy and peace to others bringing, When love shines in.

An eye witness gives added assurance of the truth. The apostle testifies that he himself and the other disciples and many others were eye witnesses to the truths concerning Christ. They had seen Jesus as He ministered on the earth, then were witnesses to His death, burial, resurrection and finally his ascension in the heavens. They testified that Jesus had been sent by God the father into the world to provide salvation for all. He is the Saviour of the world, for all who will believe on Him. He is not a savior, one of many ways but the only way of forgiveness of sin and renewal of our relationship with God the Father. The opportunity is available to everyone. “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men” Titus 2:11. It’s God’s desire for all people to be saved. “Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.: 1st Timothy 2:4 “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” 2nd Peter 3:9. The purpose of Jesus coming into the world was to save sinners. “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.” 1st Timothy 1:15. Salvation for all is God’s desire, He made the only way of forgiveness that all need, then because love is a choice He gave man the choice to believe Him, to receive or reject His gift. Then in our thankfulness we have the opportunity to show our love to Him and serve Him. When anyone believes, puts their trust in Jesus for forgiveness and confesses that Jesus is the Son of God then God dwells in Him. 1st John 4:14-15 “And we have seen and do testify that the Gather sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.” The hymn writer reminds of both His first coming and also His next soon coming for Believers , One Day. Are you ready?
1. One day when Heaven was filled with His praises,
One day when sin was as black as could be,
Jesus came forth to be born of a virgin,
Dwelt among men, my example is He!
2. One day they led Him up Calvary’s mountain,
One day they nailed Him to die on the tree;
Suffering anguish, despised and rejected:
Bearing our sins, my Redeemer is He!
3. One day they left Him alone in the garden,
One day He rested, from suffering free;
Angels came down o’er His tomb to keep vigil;
Hope of the hopeless, my Savior is He!
4. One day the grave could conceal Him no longer,
One day the stone rolled away from the door;
Then He arose, over death He had conquered;
Now is ascended, my Lord evermore!
5. One day the trumpet will sound for His coming,
One day the skies with His glories will shine;
Wonderful day, my beloved ones bringing;
Glorious Savior, this Jesus is mine!
o Refrain:
Living, He loved me; dying, He saved me;
Buried, He carried my sins far away;
Rising, He justified freely forever;
One day He’s coming—oh, glorious day!

Doing what comes naturally, love should be the thing Christians and Bible believing Churches are recognized for. Not talking about compromise of beliefs and or standards, not tolerating or accepting sin as ok. But the first thing others see should be our love for others, both the body of believers and the unsaved. Condemn sin but show the sinner love. Remember they are influenced and or controlled by Satan just as we were before we accepted Christ as our Lord and Saviour. As one preacher said and Christ showed while on earth hate sin but love the sinner. The Bible has much to say about Believers and love. In John 13:34-35 Jesus gives a new commandment to love one another as He has loved us. This is the way others will know that we are followers of Christ. 1st John 3:23 again the command to believe on Jesus and love others. Romans 5:5 God’s love is shed abroad, overflows from our hearts by the Holy Spirit indwelling in us. Romans 5:8 says Christ loved us enough to take our punishment for sin and die for us when we were against or ignoring Him as sinners. Should we not allow Him to show His love for others through us, in what we do and say. As kids would take something for show and tell to school to show it then tell about it. We as Believers should be ready to show God’s love for the unloving by our actions and then tell of His love with the Gospel. The apostle says the evidence of the Spirit dwelling with us a believers is the love we show. Without love the Spirit in not dwelling in us, the fruit of the Spirit, what He produces in us is love Gal 5:22. Our assurance of our salvation is the witness of the Holy Spirit within us Rom 8:16. “Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. Hereby know we that we dwell in him and he is us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.” 1st John 4:11-13. As the hymn writer put it love found a way to reach and redeem us.
Love Found A Way
Wonderful love that rescued me, sunk deep in sin,
Guilty and vile as I could be—no hope within;
When every ray of light had fled, O glorious day!
Raising my soul from out the dead, love found a way.
Love brought my Savior here to die on Calvary,
For such a sinful wretch as I, how can it be?
Love bridged the gulf ’twixt me and Heav’n, taught me to pray,
I am redeemed, set free, forgiven, love found a way.
Love opened wide the gates of light to Heav’n’s domain,
Where in eternal power and might Jesus shall reign.
Love lifted me from depths of woe to endless day,
There was no help in earth below; love found a way.
Refrain
Love found a way, to redeem my soul,
Love found a way, that could make me whole.
Love sent my Lord to the cross of shame,
Love found a way, O praise His holy Name!

Today the word love is loosely used in our culture. We say we love certain things, food, drinks, places or activities etc. Some even erfer to immoral practices as love instead of what it is just lust. God is love, so in its tue meaning love must be absolutely pure and good. Love is shown and made plain only by ones actions. True love was made plain by God as He expressed His love for us. He sent His only begotten Son that we might live. We were all under the sentence of death. I cannot emagine sitting in a prison knowing that in a few days I would be put to death for crimes I had done. We have all sinned :As it is written, There is none righteous, no not one.” Romans 3:10 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” Romans 3:23. There will be no mercy if we stand before His judgement, we will stand as His enemy.But there is a way of forgiveness first. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16. “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us Romans 5:8 .”That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, an shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead thou shalt be saved.” “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.’ Romans 10:9,13 Jesus came to make the only way of Salvation from the penalty of sin. When we read in Matthew 27 of the torture of the Cross He sufferred and His cry ‘ My God why have you forsaken me” we see fully that it was for me/us and my/our sin. Forgiveness is available to all who will just come to Him in repentance admitting their need of a Saviour. Suffering and dying for your enemy, that’s love manifest. Now for us the question is how will we live,express, demonstrate love to others in need of the love we have received. “In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.: 1st John 4:9-10. Room at the Cross hymn.
The cross upon which Jesus died Is a shelter in which we can hide
And its grace so free is sufficient for me And deep is its fountain as wide as the sea.
Though millions have found him a friend And have turned from the sins they have sinned
The Savior still waits to open the gates And welcome a sinner before it’s too late.
The hand of my Savior is strong And the love of my Savior is long
Through sunshine or rain, through loss or in gain, The blood flows from Calvary to cleanse every stain.
Chorus
There’s room at the cross for you
There’s room at the cross for you
Though millions have come, there’s still room for one
Yes there’s room at the cross for you.

What evidence supports your claim to be a Christian. Many look back to a time when they said a prayer, some know the date some of us don’t, but remember the event. The important thing is what followed, was there a change of life or not? The Bible gives two evidences of a Christian, a changed life 2nd Corinthians 5:17 and love John 13:35. Love God, love others and love for the Word of God. Love is only shown by actions and true love is from God. This love is not just the natural affection one may have for children, family members and others. Only God can determine if it’s the love from God or love displayed for other reasons. It may be to gain favor or to gain acceptance with God by our works we can’t know another’s motives. A true Christian will have a love: for God, because of the love He showed us when we were His enemies and ignored Him; a love for the Word of God because it tells us more about Him and living to please Him; a love for others because the Holy Spirit dwells in us. The true Christian sees himself just as God sees him and is humbled and thankful that God would love him enough to die in his place and take him as His own son. They should not expect those without Christ as Saviour to live a Christian lifestyle. We see today how far some can go, the beheadings in the middle east and the abductions and murders of girls here in our own country. But remember there is nothing that others do that we with our own sin nature could not do also, but for the grace of God. Many self included believe the time of the coming of Christ for Christians is imminent. Then the seven years of tribulation on earth a time we can’t comprehend the horrors of that time. Love is a choice, a desire of the best for another even at our expense. They very well may not deserve it, just as we didn’t deserve or have anything to offer to God, but He loved us anyway. The question is how will we show our love to God, to His Word and to others in our daily walk. 1 John 4:7-8 7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

Why be surprised at what we see going on around us, with the thoughts, words and actions of people. The life styles that are being lived and promoted. Homosexuality and men and women living together before marriage and drinking are presented as just normal. This is easily understood when we realize as the apostle says here there are two groups of people on earth. Those that are saved and those that are unsaved, of the World or of God. Some preachers are readily accepted in the World because of what they preach and don’t preach, it makes the feel good. They like many people never draw a line between the start of right and wrong. Examples, living together before marriage if you say you are planning to be married, drinking is ok if you don’t get totally drunk just drink to just before the point of drunkenness and stop. Just live a good life and do good for others and you will be ok. The one thing they ignore or reject is the question What think you of Jesus Christ. Some will spend eternity in Hell as murderers, drunkards, adulterers, cheats and liars etc some as “good” people having done much good while alive but just ignored Jesus Christ as the only way of Salvation. The other group are those who have seen their need of a Saviour and put their trust in Christ as their only hope, not proud but thankful to God for their new relationship with Christ. We have the Holy Spirit living within and when we hear a preacher, preach wrong things the Spirit within tells something is wrong, examine it further. To hear the Spirit within it’s important to keep nothing between ourselves and our Saviour, no little sin unconfessed. We each must answer the question which group are you? 1 John 4:5-6 5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. 6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.” The Hymn Nothing Between

1. Nothing between my soul and my Savior, Naught of this world’s delusive dream;
I have renounced all sinful pleasure; Jesus is mine, there’s nothing between.
2. Nothing between, like worldly pleasure; Habits of life, though harmless they seem,
Must not my heart from Him ever sever; He is my all, there’s nothing between.
3. Nothing between, like pride or station; Self or friends shall not intervene;
Though it may cost me much tribulation, I am resolved, there’s nothing between.
4. Nothing between, e’en many hard trials, Though the whole world against me convene;
Watching with prayer and much self-denial, I’ll triumph at last, there’s nothing between.
o Refrain:
Nothing between my soul and my Savior, So that His blessed face may be seen;
Nothing preventing the least of His favor; Keep the way clear! Let nothing between.
