There are times I life when each of us mostly likely will be unjustly treated, because of our beliefs. At these times the question we face is how will we react? The psalmist gives us instructions on how we need to react. We need to focus on the Word of God in the good times so that when the hard times come we will turn to it. He says he stands in awe /wonder of the Word, this comes by study and learning the Word, the more we study the more amazed we become as we learn more of the character of our God. The Word brings joy as that of one finding something extremely valuable. When one loves the Word one will also hate lying and other things that go against the Word of God. His love for the Word causes him to give praise to God throughout the day, that comes from a close walk with God daily moment by moment. It’s our knowing and then relying on the Word that will bring us peace. Our reaction should be as the psalmist , our only hope for salvation is from Christ alone. The hope is the complete assurance based on the promises and character of God, and our personal acceptance of His payment for our sins. He says he has done Gods commands, the only commands for receiving salvation is that we repent of our sinful condition and receive His payment as a gift. “161 Princes have persecuted me without a cause: but my heart standeth in awe of thy word. 162 I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil. 163 I hate and abhor lying: but thy law do I love. 164 Seven times a day do I praise thee because of thy righteous judgments. 165 Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them. 166 Lord, I have hoped for thy salvation, and done thy commandments. 167 My soul hath kept thy testimonies; and I love them exceedingly. 168 I have kept thy precepts and thy testimonies: for all my ways are before thee.” Psalm 119:61-168
